"Cloudy With A Chance Of Riceballs"-Revolutionizing Agric In GH With FSRP Automated Weather Stations

Hitherto, field officials of Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) collated and analyzed data manually and laboriously; and this sometimes yields delayed, inaccurate results, leading to misleading forecasts. Again, farms in Ghana suffered the brunt of climate change in 2023/2024, leading to the failure of vast stretches of crops. In response, the West Africa Food System Resilience Programme (FSRP}supported GMet with 20 Automated Weather Stations (AWSs) to help them to automatically generate accurate, location-specific forecasts, which are used by a joint team of officials of the Ministry of Food & Agriculture (MoFA) and GMet to develop cropping calendars and advisories for farmers across the country. FSRP's AWSs collate, analyze and upload unadulterated data for more reliable agro-meteorological forecasts and advisories. PRODUCTION This video was produced with an aim of appealing to audiences beyond policy makers. It adopts social-media characteristics that particularly appeal to the youth, who are being targeted by FSRP to be drawn into full-time commercial agric occupation.
