''Spicy & Extra Crispy!'' Ghana's Poultry Industry Grows New Wings

The West Africa Food System Resilience Program (FSRP) is actively revitalizing Ghana's poultry sector to combat a heavy dependency on imports, which drains between $300 million and $400 million annually while local production covers only 5% of national demand. By allocating $12.5 million to its Poultry Intensification Scheme, the initiative has successfully injected nearly 32 million Ghana Cedis in input credit and training to anchor farmers across four key regions. This structural support has already enabled local producers to scale seasonal capacities, successfully yielding 1.5 million birds for the 2024–2025 cycle through secured off-take market agreements and competitive retail packaging.
